Big Savings On Second Hand Clothing

If you want to give away old clothing that you have, you may want to try to donate it to Goodwill or another second hand store, or even Salvation Army. You do not necessarily have to throw away your old clothes. Giving away old clothing to someone who needs it is a better cause than donating it to the trash can. You would be surprised to know that there are many Goodwill stores that exist in many cities, and there may even be one located down your very own street. So before you hand over your old clothes to the trashcan, think of a way you can either donate it or somehow use your sewing skills to bring it into style.Goodwill collects all sorts of donated items. They have women's clothing, men's clothing, children's clothing, household supplies, appliances, toys, and all kinds of odds and ends. It is mainly for those low income families who can not afford to go shop at a more expensive clothing store. You can find some really nice women's clothing at Goodwill. I have every now and then found some nice name brands like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, among others at Goodwill.Goodwill is only one of the stores that caters to low income families. Salvation Army also collects donations for poorer families. It is a good cause and if you decide to give away old clothes, books, appliances, or toys to any of these second hand stores, you are really helping an important cause.I once went into a second hand store in Philadelphia that had great name brand items for very low costs. I couldn't believe the nice selection of women's clothing they had. They had very fancy purses, shoes, gowns, and jewelry. A gown at this second hand store could cost you anywhere from one hundred to two hundred dollars, whereas if you went to Neiman Marcus a similar gown could cost you anywhere from nine hundred to fifteen hundred dollars! Now that is really saving! It is sometimes just fun to browse through the racks of these second hand stores because you never know what you will find.Sometimes you will find even the second hand clothing reduced. If something has a red tag, or is in a special room off to the side, you may have gotten really lucky and found a really good deal. You can sometimes find sweaters and boots marked with a red tag for just a few dollars. You can end up spending the whole day in a second hand store if they have a really good selection and a lot of good items. You may walk away only having spent twenty dollars, and got a few shirts or even a pair of shoes!People who really are low on money are very grateful that these types of stores exist, because they can't even think about shopping anywhere like the Gap for their children. Saving money on clothes allows these lower income families to buy things that are actually more important, like food. So the next time you give away a sweater to Goodwill, you could be helping a child to stay warm in the winter.
